“We couldn’t be happier with our relationship with Advance over the last four years.” – R.O., VP of Operations
Background: ‘PDQ Contractors’ places highly skilled labor for marine & shipyard repair, as well as temps for emergency situations like hurricanes and oil spills.
“Our business can fluctuate significantly at a moments notice, and we need to be prepared to take on the project and payroll.”
Problem: Volume increased very suddenly with orders for temporary labor to assist in the clean up of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico from the Deepwater Horizon disaster on April 22, 2010.
“Within a very short time, we placed over 1,600 employees across four states. We went from $200,000 in weekly billings to $2-3 million a week. Never had we come across a project like this.”
Solution: Advance Partners acted fast. Not only with the capacity and willingness to fund the increased volume, but also with an on-site team to support operations including software integration, payroll, invoicing and tax functions.
“Advanced offered any help we needed. Besides funding, they saw our biggest need was administrative. Every day we had hundreds of pages of documentation to complete and process and they sent a team of people to our office for four months .”
Results: PDQ’s annual billings increased from $10 million to $60 million due to the oil spill cleanup, and Advance provided the cash flow and operational support they needed. Following the spill, volume went back to $10 million and has increased $1-2 million each year since.
“We don’t have to be worried if we get an order out of the blue, or an emergency job tomorrow. Anything that we could possibly need, any support we’ve ever needed, Advance has been there to help us. That peace of mind is great. There are no words for that.”
